Poweball Champions

What great attendance we had at yesterday's Powerball!  The "Pot" was at $120, with a 3 way tie for the money!  Congratulations to Julie Jones, Judy Fogg, and Betsy Quinn.  Mark your calendars for the next Powerball with Jones on June 28 from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm. 

The New Onion Creek Clay Courts!

Good morning!  We are pleased to announce the wait is almost over!  The newly resurfaced clay courts will be completed and ready to play on Friday May 24^th!  Please remember to call and make your reservations in early, the courts may be reserved up to 14 days in advance. 

Just a few reminders to ensure our new courts stay as pristine as possible for all of our members to enjoy.  When you complete play, please brush the court and sweep the lines.  This is not just a courtesy to the next group playing, but also ensures the court playable stays consistent.  The courts will be closed daily from 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm for watering and maintenance.  If you would like to play on the clay courts during those times, please make a reservation in advance, and  we will adjust our watering schedule.  The courts will also be water daily in the evenings at 12:00 am.

Clay Court Update

Dear Members,

 

I am pleased to share an updated timeline for the resurface of our clay tennis courts.  Australian Courtworks is currently working on a hard court resurface at another facility in Austin, which has unfortunately been slightly delayed due to the recent inclement weather.  Once this project is completed, which we expect to take roughly 14 days, 80 tons of clay will be delivered and the repairs will start on our courts.  In the meantime we have started work on the irrigation system, and will begin preparing the site for the resurfacing.  The total project time once started will be   2-3 weeks, and based on this we have set a target date of June 1st to reopen the courts.  In addition to the obvious improvement on the playing surface, our upgraded courts will include new lines, nets, and net posts.

 

We appreciate everyone's patience and understand that the clay tennis courts offer a valuable amenity to many of our Members.  We look forward to providing each of you with a significantly upgraded experience very soon.

Onion Creek USTA

Come out this weekend and support our Onion Creek USTA teams!  The ladies 3.0 team will play Saturday at 12:00, followed by the Men's 7.0 Senior team at 3:00.

The Spring 2013 USTA seasons are over half way through!  Congratulations to everyone who is playing this season.  The Men's 65 and over Seniors team is currently in 1st place!  Way to go guys!  Please come out and support our teams this weekend.  The Women's 3.0 team plays at home on Saturday at Noon, followed by the Men's Senior team at 3:00.  The Men's 4.0 team will play at home on Sunday at 1:00. 

Clay Court News

Dear Members,

The full scope of our clay court repairs has been finalized and I am very pleased to announce that we will be making over a $55,000 investment in our program as we bring our courts to USTA standards. The repairs will include complete laser grading, new irrigation heads, new lines, posts, and nets, and of course new clay across the entire surface.  We expect the work to be completed within 5-7 weeks.  

We appreciate not only your patience, but also the passion and support that has been in evidence as we have been diligently working to resolve this situation.  With the investment being made in our courts, complemented by the improvements and growth in our tennis program that we've enjoyed under the guidance of our Director of Tennis, Jenny Gray, I am extremely excited about the future of tennis here at Onion Creek Club.

In fact, I look forward to personally joining you on the courts to experience the new, outstanding playing conditions that will be in evidence once this work is completed.
